Awake liposuction occurs while you are conscious and in a treatment chair right in Dr. Jones' office. The procedure involves a cannula with a long thin tube that is passed into the target area. A saline solution is injected to break apart fat cells so they can be easily removed with vacuum-like suction. During your procedure, Dr. Jones works the cannula in a back-and-forth motion to further break down the fat cells. Once the fat is removed, the cannula entry points are closed with small sutures.
